Simmons SDS 200 represents one of the classic electronic drum setups from the legendary English manufacturer. These drums started the revolution of the drum instrument in the era of techno-pop music, begining in early eighties. Their tight sound revolutionized the way the music sounded, and the way drummers played the rhythm in modern music.
SDS 200 consists of two tom-tom pads on a tough, stylish stand, and an analog module comprising two separate voices. Pads and modules are velocity sensitive, i.e. the loudness of the sound depends on the strength with which the pads are hit.    On the sound module you'll find everything you could think of for producing excellent analog drum sounds, starting from trigger sensitivity, filter pitch, filter sweep, tone pitch, tone bend (auto-pitch bend), noise-tone balance and even more. There are sound components you couldn't get from even the best monophonic synths, like the click level and the so called 2nd skin effect. Of course, the overall sound is aimed to resemble the electronic drums and is specific in that sense. With just a little imagination you'll make the whistling sounds of electronic toms that marked the sound of eighties.
Excellent quality of production guarantees that you'll be pleased by the sound of SDS 200 (best chips available, like CEM, were used), as well as editing controls and appearance. Nowadays, Simmons SDS 200 can be considered as quite a rarity, and used both for playing and as an ideal sampling source. (The picture is gratefully taken from Audio Playground Synth. Museum. Only the module is shown. The orginal pads are black). (Send your email.)
