Roland JX-3P analog synthesizer sounds so special that no others, even expensive synths, can catch some of its sounds! Synthesists mustn't miss its strings, brasses, juicy funky sounds, resonances, lush jet etc... First Roland synth with two DCOs per voice, which to be true, lack some of the VCO warmth found in Jupiter series, but are, on the other hand, stable and reliable. Double oscillators for a total of 6 voices, plus nice VCFs, good, warm chorus and other usual features, make this synth nice and versatile analog choice. JX-3P is among the first synths with MIDI, though the stress must be made -- a very rudimentary one, and without the THRU connector on most of the models. This can be solved by placing it at the end of the MIDI chain, which is not a bad place for it either, because it will probably be among the slowest MIDI slaves you have. MIDI is normally in the OMNI mode, not very useful one, but can be put into the POLY mode by some tricks. If you are a real analog fan, you could hardly resist buying the JX-3P. For affordable price you'll get the synth with 2 DCOs per voice that is easily patched to your MIDI gear. There is also an extra programmer PG 200 that can provide a total control with the ease of moving a button. And for those of you who own the JX-8P, just a note that this predecessor does sound different! Please refer also to many other pages concerning this synth, like the EMUSIC-L in-depth review.
