Korg Prophecy is one of the best new monophonic synthesizers available on the market today. It is a digital machine based on the so called "physical modeling" concept, which can successfully simulate what's going on when acoustic instruments are played, as well as imitate old analog synthesis and the process of analog filtering. Though not the true analog, because of the lack of real analog components (filters at least), due to its good and careful design, like many of the Korg models, it succeeded in providing good basic timbres, various modulations, nice portamento effect that sounds like the analog one, and excellent performing controls.

A good thing is to have a lot of real time controllable functions like filter cutoff frequency, resonance, envelope parameters and more, which are assignable to external knobs. The usual benefits of new technology also have to be taken into account -- the Prophecy is completely programmable and with full MIDI implementation. No doubt that this is one of the digital synths that really deserves your attention. (Send your email).
